Operating Principle

Function and Principle of the Foot Valve The foot valve is installed at the bottom of a pump's suction pipe. Its function is to prevent the liquid in the suction pipe from flowing back, ensuring the pump can prime smoothly. It operates on a one - way flow principle. When the pump starts, the pressure drop sucks the valve open, allowing liquid in; when the pump stops, liquid pressure closes the valve.
