Operating Principle

The knife gate valve, also known as the knife gate valve, knife gate valve, slurry valve, and mud valve, has a gate plate as its opening and closing member. The direction of movement of the gate plate is perpendicular to the direction of fluid flow. The knife-shaped gate plate, which can cut fiber materials, is used to cut off the medium. The gate plate has two sealing surfaces. The most commonly used mode of gate valve has two sealing surfaces forming a wedge shape, and the wedge angle varies depending on the valve parameters, usually 5°. The knife gate valve can be made into a whole called a rigid gate plate, or it can be made into a gate plate that can produce slight deformation to improve its processability and compensate for deviations in the sealing surface angle during processing. This type of gate plate is called an elastic gate plate. The valve body actually does not have a chamber, and the gate plate rises and falls in a side guide slot and is pressed tightly against the valve seat by a lug at the bottom. If high media sealing is required, an O-shaped sealing valve seat can be used to achieve bidirectional sealing. The knife gate valve has a small installation space, low working pressure, and is not prone to accumulation of debris, and its price is relatively low.

When the knife gate valve is closed, the sealing surface can be sealed by the pressure of the medium only, that is, the sealing surface of the gate plate is pressed against the valve seat on the other side by the pressure of the medium to ensure the sealing of the sealing surface. This is self-sealing. Most gate valves use forced sealing, that is, when the valve is closed, external force is used to force the gate plate against the valve seat to ensure the sealing of the sealing surface. This type of valve should generally be installed vertically in the pipeline.
